The Invisible Man's Revenge, released in 1944, is the fifth film in Universal Pictures The Invisible Man series. This would also be the last of the actual Invisible Man films, as the next two appearances by our friend the Invisible Man would be in Abbot and Costello meat Frankenstein, and then later in Abbot and Costello meet The Invisible Man. This film like the one before it is a bit of a let down, though it does feature John Hall again as the Invisible Man, but in a much different role, and as a different person. The film also features horror movie legend John Carradine, and Evelyn Ankers, who would also appear in The Wolfman. The cast is pretty decent, but the story is just kind of blah. Also, though some of special effects look really well done, there are a few scenes where you can see the support cables for some of the effects, and that just seems lazy and feels low budget. The story is also just kind of mediocre, and not super interesting to me. This film tries to be serious, but to me comes across as a bit hokey and just a gimmick. I don't really have a lot to say about this film, other than it is alright, but definitely not great, though at least it dropped the war propaganda of the first film. Would I recommend this film? I suppose if you get a chance to see it , definitely give it a view, though it isn't really worth tracking down.
