The Bone Collector is a crime thriller/drama movie that was released in 1999. The movie is based on the book of the same name, which was book one of the Lincoln Ryme series by Jeffery Deaver. This movie had an all-star cast featuring Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Ed O'Neal, Queen Latifah, Luis Guzman, and other great actors. The Bone Collector is about a quadriplegic forensic detective (Denzel Washington), who is pretty much a master in his field, and still considered an on duty cop even though he is confined to his bed. Angelina Jolie plays a beat cop who finds a body. The crime scene has strange clues, that lead them to discover that the wife of the victim is still alive and being held captive. Ryme heads up the investigation, and requests that because of her amazing work at working the crime scene of the first body, that she be the one who works the crime scene when they find the wife, and they become partners. The movie is a murder mystery, where by using the clues at each crime scene they discover links and evidence pointing to who the murder might be. But can they find the murder and stop these brutal murders? This movie got pretty bad reviews which is honestly unfortunate. The movie was amazingly cast, and everyone played their parts perfectly. The movie has a decent amount of suspense, that gets the heart pumping, as the killer continually stays one step ahead of the investigators. I really enjoyed this movie, I like that it had elements of horror, suspense, and drama. The characters are well cast and well developed. Yes, this movie does suffer from being formulatic, but it is still well done, and enjoyable to watch, and I feel it has a compelling story. Would I recommend this movie? Yes, if you are looking for a good murder mystery movie with a great cast, I would say that this is a good one to put on.
