Killer Klowns From Outerspace released in 1988 is a scifi-horror-comedy film by the Chiodo Brothers. This is a film that delivers exactly what it promises, silly over the top practical effects, cheesy dialogue, and silly comedy. There is nothing about this film to be taken serious. Killer Klowns From Outer Space borrows heavily from cult classic film The Blob, and has some amazing practical special effects. The Klowns are obviously actors in rubber suits and it is absolutely amazing, everything is over the top, and nothing is supposed to be taken serious. This film had to be an absolute blast to work on, the best way to describe it is fun. The film was made on a small budget, and none of the actors were really big names, and I feel like that is the best way to have done it. The film looks good, it looks like it was made cheap, and it looks like it was a lot of fun to film. The effects look as believable as men in rubber suits should look. The film was well written as a sci-fi-horror-comedy. I mean I really have nothing negative to say about it, other than some of the dialogue was a bit cringey, and would not have been the same if written today. This film is a cult classic and has mostly positive reviews, and is 100% worth your time watching. I almost forgot to mention that another one of my favourite parts of this film is that the classic punk band The Dickies did the theme song as well as some other tracks of the sound track! So that kind of makes this a classic punk rock film as well! I mean I could not imagine the Dickies NOT doing the soundtrack for this film. Would I recommend this film? Yes, I absolutely love this film and highly recommend watching it, and watching it often. This is a great film to put on with a group of friends, and pop up some popcorn, and maybe even get some cotton candy! This film holds so many amazing memories for me, and I have nothing but tons of love for it. Is it for everybody, probably not, it is a cult classic for a reason, there are definitely people out there who would not appreciate this silly classic, but for the rest of us, put it on and have a great time. If you like goofy cult classics like the Blob, then this one is right up your alley, and anyone who knows me, knows that these types of films are some of my favourites.
