Inuyasha Movie 3: Swords Of An Honorable Ruler is the 3rd in the series of movies based on the widely popular anime series, and was released 2003 in Japan, and 2005 in America. This film should be watched after episode 136 of the anime series. Like the previous films, it is almost necessary to watch the series along side the films otherwise the story line will be confusing and make little sense. So that aside, the artwork is beautiful and consistent with the other films, the same voice acing talents are also used, keeping with the continuity. There are several canonical continuity errors, but nothing that is important enough to mention here without going into too much detail about the actual series. Overall the film is really well done, and my favourite of the series so far. The story line is really well done, and being done in the format of the a film rather than a standard episode allows the story to be really explored and flushed out. I feel like where the tediousness of the first film and the earlier parts of the series, this film breaks from that and if given more set up could actually almost stand on its own as a stand alone film. Again though without previous knowledge of the background of the characters, I am sure that this film would have been completely confusing. Like I said in the previews for the other films, the artwork is absolutely beautiful, and really well done, with great character designs. I actually really enjoy the American (well Canadian specifically) voice acting cast on the English dub, though in some of the bonus scenes in the special features of these films I've gotten myself also quite familiar with the Japanese voice acting cast as well, and honestly I feel like the English cast is well cast and they feel comfortable in the roles as the characters at this point, and I couldn't imagine them being anyone else. Would I recommend this film? If you have not seen the rest of the anime, then no. If you've seen and love the anime, or are in this part of the series where the film fits, then yes absolutely I couldn't recommend it enough. Great well done film, and I really enjoyed it a lot. I am super tired (thus the shortness of the review), but the film held my attention quite well, which puts it above its predecessors in many ways. I am really looking forward to the next, and final film in the Inuyasha series.
