Firestarter 2: Rekindled was a 2-part miniseries made for the Sci-Fi Channel in 2002, it starred Marguerite Moreau as an adult Charlie McGee, as well as Malcolm McDowell, and Dennis Hopper. The basic concept of the film is that somehow Rainbird (McDowell) survived and is still looking for Charlie because he loves her and wants her to kill him (?) he has also created an army of kids with special abilities, to be used as weapons. I kind of wonder if the film makers ever bothered to read the book, or even watch the original movie. This is supposed to be a sequel about Charlie as an adult...but I don't know what the fuck they are going for here. There is flashback scenes that are supposed to give character development and back story, however the sequences in the flashbacks all contradict the movie it is supposed to be a sequel of, creating the entire mess of a film to be a continuity error. Also twice now has Rainbird, a native american character been played by an old white man, rather than a native actor, not that Malcolm McDowell is a bad actor (he was great in movies like A Clockwork Orange and Caligula). I don't know just nothing about this movie feels right, and I guess it all takes place in what looks to be Colorado now? I was also a bit uncomfortable with the sexualization of the character of Charlie, maybe because minutes before I watched this I saw her as a child, but I don't know there was something that just seemed wrong about it. Ok, let's be honest there really isn't anything that doesn't feel wrong about this film. The special features look like a highschool kid did them on their laptop, bad doesn't even begin to describe them. The sets were boring and uninspired at best, everything just looked fake. The writing for the movie seemed weak at best, the story seemed to be lacking real substance, and there was nothing to hold the attention that is required for a film of this length, the original was described as a bore by the critics, that one at least had a compelling story to hold the viewer's attention. The casting is acceptable, even the two big named actors gave performances that seemed to lack any passion or desire to actually be in the film. I know that this is a made for television two part miniseries and I should not have high expectations, but that isn't fair either considering how well It, The Shinning, Rose Red, The Stand and the multitude of other Stephen King based miniseries were made turned out. I feel like the writer of this was told by a friend of a friend of a friend who had watched the original movie, what happened in it. i honestly don't know what they were thinking when they came up with this dogshit garbage fire of a movie. Let's be honest the only reason I have watched it multiple times is because it is a Stephen King based movie, and I need to own all things King related.

Would I recommend this movie? Not to anyone I would want to still be my friend after they watched it. Firestarter more like the only good use for this movie, too bad we can't erase it from our memories, though I am sure most people already have, but I like to inflict pain upon myself and watch it over and over again, because I am a blood masochist. That all said, it isn't the worst movie I have ever watched.
