Creepshow is a horror/comedy anthology by Stephen King and George Romero, released in 1982. It is a movie made up of 5 short stories, and pays homage to EC and DC horror comics like Tales From The Crypt. Creepshow is also Stephen King's screenwriting debut and his acting debut, as well as featuring King's son Joe Hill King as the kid named Billy in the prologue and epilogue. There are also amazing special effects done by the legendary Tom Savini. The first story Father's Day, starring Ed Harris is about a very wealthy family meeting up on Father's Day. As they are waiting for the matriarch of the family the dark family history unfolds about how Aunt Bedelia murdered her father after years of taking care of him after his stroke. As he was screaming "where's my cake, where's my cake you fucking bitch..." she murdered him. So she arrives to the party, and goes out to his grave, and well daddy still wants his father's day cake, and he shall have it. This short story features some amazing Tom Savini zombie work, which is what made him famous in the Dead series by George Romero. The story is intentionally cheesy, with a bit of very dark humour added in, because again it is paying homage to those great horror comics. The actors were all really well cast for this story and played their parts really well and I love the ending of this one, it is great way to start off the anthology. The second story is The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill, this one starts Stephen King as the country bumpkin farmer Jordy Verrill, and he is out in his field one evening and sees a meteor crash in his field. He goes to explore, and develops the plan to put it in a bucket and sell it to the university, but when he touches it he burns his fingers. He then gets the idea to dump water on it, which cracks it, and as he then scoops the halves into his bucket he gets "meteor shit" on him. As the night progresses everything starts growing green plants, including Jordy. Can Jordy find a way to save himself before he becomes a shrubbery? This story is definitely the funniest of them all, and shows that King is not only a great writer but also a great comedic horror actor, and honestly is perfectly cast for the roll. Also thumbs up to the placement of the bottle of Ripple (a bum wine that I have only heard of in stories, but yet to see in person, as I am a bum wine connoisseur). This is a great comedic horror story, and so well done. The third story is Something To Tide You Over. I love that the title is a pun, as I am a huge fan of puns. This story stars Ted Danson and Leslie Neilsen, and also features an uncredited cameo by Richard Gere. Ted Danson has been cheating with Leslie Neilsen's wife, and well he is found out. But the husband has a cruel way to pay the two back for their infidelity. He takes Ted Danson out to a private beach and bury's him up to his head in the sand. He then forces him to watch a live broadcast of his wife in the same position, but the tide is coming in as she fights to keep her head above water. The Tide where Danson is starts rising as well. The next day Leslie Neilsen goes back to the beach to gather his video equipment and to check on the bodies, but the bodies are gone... This one is again perfectly cast and shot, such a great and fun short story, with some wonderful Tom Savini effects at the end. The fourth story is The Crate. So at a university a janitor finds a mysterious crate under the stars, so he calls Dex one of the professors at the college. They open the crate and a monster pops out and eats the janitor, it then eats a student, so Dex frantically tells his friend and fellow professor, Henry. Henry comes up a with a plan to rid himself from his overbearing and obnoxious wife Billy. I love the cheesy effects in this one, it is absolutely beautiful, and there is a great mix of comedy, horror, and blood in this one. The fifth and final story is "They Creep Up On You." This is a story about Upson Pratt, a germaphobe, and ruthless business man. He is in a sterile penthouse apartment, but he is beginning to have a bug problem, and the cockroaches keep increasing and nothing his money or power can do, can stop these bugs from coming at him. This move ends in a gruesome climax, featuring great Savini special effects. If you are looking for a serious horror movie, this is not it. This is a fun movie, this movie is a comic book, and even features comic book elements. After the success of the movie King did end up putting out an actual comic book of Creepshow, wich is a wonderful thing to have for any King Collector.

I honestly can't find a lot of flaws in this film, it is exactly what it promises to be, it is not a serious horror movie, it is a fun b-horror movie with classic horror comic book qualities to it. Creepshow is a true classic. I love the great practical special effects of Tom Savini. I just love this cheesy, silly and fun horror classic. Would I recommend this movie, yes without a doubt I would recommend this, as well as recommend folks also read the Ceepshow comic that Stephen King put out. Great fun movie, get you friends together for some laughs and I don't think anyone would blame you if you needed some one to hold your hand at a fwe parts.
