Brutal Massacre is a comedic mockumentary released in 2007, about a horror movie director who had one hit, and success has seemed to elude him since. Aside from a few hardcore fans his work, and the small amount of people that come to see him at horror conventions, his movies are shunned by critics and criticized for their heavy use of violence and gore. The director, Harry Penderecki, has decided to make one last movie, called Brutal Massacre. The film is plagued by disaster after disaster, and it seems like the movie will be impossible to be completed. This movie is basically the Spinal Tap of b-horror movies, and has a great cast including Brian O'Halloran (Dante from Clerks). It is actually a really fun movie, but also a bit sad at times. I didn't expect much out of this movie, but actually ended up really enjoying it a lot. Definitely a cheesy b-horror comedy, that is definitely worth seeing. The production quality is exactly what one would expect of a low budget mockumentary, and the acting is pretty convincing, it really does feel like you are watching a mix between an actual documentary and a b-horror movie. This film also does a great job at poking fun at the b-horror movie genre, and is very self-aware. I think that the characters were all perfectly cast, and believable. Would I recommend this film. Definitely, it is great fun, and good for a some laughs, I feeling that true horror fans would appreciate it, but so would fans of comedy. Definitely worth wasting some time on.
