Blood and Sex Nightmare

Blood and Sex Nightmare is a 2008 low budget horror/porn(?) film. To call this film a B-horror is a compliment above it's worth. This is a film that falls somewhere below b-level, to be completely honest. This film delivers exactly what it's title suggests, there are copious amounts of blood and gore, and sex, and is definitely a nightmare. To be honest, the film isn't absolutely terrible, and has a certain charm. The film has some great over the top gore, including a penis being cut off, naked women covered in blood and gore, and disemboweled intestines, and then on top of that there is some decent kinky sex scenes.

This film is harder than soft-core porn, but the sex scenes do not over shadow the violent gory scenes. I have a feeling that this film was a lot of fun to make, and it almost feels like some film school friends went out into the woods and had a fun time filming the film.

The film was filmed at an abandoned gay sex resort in the woods near East Stroudsburgh PA, and sets fit the film's mood really well. The acting is unprofessional and exactly what you would expect. The film quality is grainy, poorly lit, the sound quality is inconsistent and not well done at all. The story, is interesting, and mostly coherent, and helps to explain the reasoning for the scenes, honestly the filmmakers get an A for effort for the story. And also most importantly, holy fuck, I want the leading male to die so bad in this film, he is a emotionally and sexually abusive pile of shit to his girlfriend. It is rare to hate a character as much as I do the male lead, and the female lead has absolutely no personality, and is very monotone, and just honestly a bore to watch. There are a lot of more memorable side characters, and some funny parts as well.

I don't want you to get the impression that I hate the film, based on my thoughts on it. Honestly all of these things help to make the film more fun to watch. I love low budget horror films, there is a charm in the bad acting, and the use of extreme gore in a way that it is almost comedic. This film is bloody disgusting, and honestly that is what makes it so great. It is over the top cheesy and it is fully aware of it. The effects are so bad they are a lot of fun. Even as a step above soft-core porn the film succeeds in a terrible but great way. Honestly I find myself watching the film multiple times, because it is actually a fun movie.

I picked this up at a local shop in Portland Maine called Abraxis, based on how terrible it looked, and I was not disappointed.

Would I recommend this film? If you are under the age of 18, no, absolutely not, even with parental consent I would not recommend you watch this one. But to adults who like really fucked up, cheesy gore/porn films, don't pass this one up. If you like good movies, with good film and sound quality, if you like tasteful films, then avoid this, it is not meant for you. This is a film meant for the connoisseur of trash film, and it is so not disappointing, it delivers exactly what it promises, and makes no apologies, trash film at its best. Bloody disgusting!
