I used to watch re-runs of the Batman TV show as a kid, and I was definitely a fan, and then when Tim Burton made his Batman movies I thought that they were a lot of fun. For some reason though, when the franchise was brought back to life in the new movies, I had no desire to see them, I didn't like how they looked in the previews, and everything everyone had to say about them just turned me off of them. Well I was given a copy of Batman Begins and as it was the next movie on my shelf, I decided it was finally time to give it a shot. (Caution, if you love this movie, just stop reading now, because I am going to piss you off). Batman Begins is exactly as the title suggests, it is the story of how Bruce Wayne's parents were killed and how he became Batman. The movie has a cast of huge stars including Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, and the always amazing Michael Caine, and of course Christian Bale as Batman. The movie has a lot of drama, a lot of over-the-top action, gratuitous fight scenes, explosions....I mean what else could you want from an action movie? There is a lot more that I could want form a movie, and this one delivered boredom and disappointment. The story was long and drawn out, and Bruce Wayne seems like nothing more than a spoiled rich kid that can get away with anything he wants because he is a rich bastard. This Batman has no class, no sophistication, there is no style, there is no colourful super-villians. I mean sure it's nice it goes into how he got trained to be a....wait, Batman is a ninja now? I absolutely hate the Batmobile design, the movie doesn't have the dark gothic look that I want out of my Gotham city, it is just a shitty action movie with a shitty actor failing to play the role of Batman. Christian Bale is the WORST Batman I have seen yet, I would even go so far to say that he is even worse than George Clooney, and I didn't think that was possible. I still think Michael Keaton played the best Batman. I can't find a single thing that I like about this movie, even with some of my favourite actors (Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine), there was no saving this steaming pile of dog shit. Though to be fair I thought Michael Caine was a nearly perfect Alfred, and I also loved Morgan Freeman's role. This Batman is a spoiled brat, and is absolutely abysmal. How the hell did this movie do so well, critics actually loved this thing somehow. It looks terrible, it feels terrible, the pacing is jumbled and not smooth, and has a terrible flow to it, it is boring, by the way did I mention how terrible this movie looks? Would I recommend this movie? Nope. nope. nope. nope. I would recommend it be destroyed and never viewed again. I wish I could get back the time of my life that I just spent watching this movie, I wish that I could remove it from my memory. No, I don't think anyone should watch this steaming pile of dog shit. I haven't seen a movie that looked this bad in a really long time, that had this terrible flow, lack of style, terrible drama that is trying too hard, and comes way short of hitting its mark. There is no real emotion in this movie, this is a movie for entitled rich, white, privileged boys. It shows that rich kids can get whatever they want. Destroy a city, no worries, you're Batman, you're a privileged rich white man in a bat suit. This movie is a disgrace to the Batman franchise, hell it's a fucking disgrace to movies in general. Nope, never watching this one again, this isn't even gonna stay in my collection. I will say that this is one of the worst movies I have ever suffered through, and I have put myself through some really bad movies, hell often I enjoy bad movies, but this one is terrible on every level, it is terrible on a technical level, the acting is shit, the sets are shit, the lighting is shit, the dialogue is shit, the character designs are shit, the props are shit, the special effects look terrible.... Ok, I am just gonna leave it as Nope, shouldn't have done that, and I regret the decision of putting that one on.
